Awareness Session on Women Safety and Drug Abuse
The Department of Applied Sciences conducted an awareness session on Women’s Safety and Drug Abuse for the first year BE students in collaboration with the Bangalore Police on 01.12.2025. The session was led by Sub Inspector Zurilal Nayak and Inspector Anil Kumar from Marathahalli Police Station, who shared valuable insights on safety measures and legal frameworks.
The officers highlighted various women’s safety initiatives introduced by the Karnataka State Police, including the Suraksha App, Namma 112, emergency helplines, and regular patrolling in sensitive areas. Students were encouraged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and make effective use of these safety tools.
The second part of the session focused on the rising concern of drug abuse among youth. The officers explained the harmful effects of substance misuse and emphasised the strict legal consequences under the NDPS Act, noting that possession, consumption, or involvement in drug-related activities can lead to severe punishment.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, where students clarified their doubts regarding safety issues and legal procedures. The session proved highly informative, enhancing awareness about personal safety and the dangers of drug abuse, while motivating students to adopt responsible practices for their well-being.
