Guest Talk on Understanding AI & ML Using Math
The Department of Mathematics, part of the Department of Applied Sciences at New Horizon College of Engineering, organized a session titled “Understanding AI & ML Using Math” on 19th May 2026. It aimed to help students understand the mathematical foundations of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members. The keynote speaker was Ms. Neeraj Sharma, Director and Founder of V18hub. She delivered an insightful presentation connecting mathematical concepts to AI and ML applications. She emphasized the role of statistics, probability, algebra, and calculus in building intelligent systems.
The speaker also explained the importance of concepts such as Bayes’ theorem and the chain rule. She discussed how these principles are applied in areas like image processing and real-world problem-solving. Her use of relatable examples, including social media fraud detection, enhanced students’ understanding.
The interactive nature of the session kept the audience engaged throughout. Overall, the session highlighted the growing relevance of AI and ML and encouraged students to develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
