Guest Talk on Digital Distraction and Suicide Prevention
On 07 September 2026, the Department of Applied Sciences at NHCE organized a thought-provoking guest talk on “Digital Distraction and Suicide Prevention” at the college auditorium. The session was delivered by Dr. Padmakshi Lokesh, renowned social activist, founder of Sejal New Life Foundation, and a Book of World Record holder. The talk focused on the growing impact of digital distractions on attention, productivity, and overall well-being. Participants gained valuable insights into the importance of responsible and mindful use of digital devices and social media platforms. The session emphasized maintaining a healthy balance between online engagement and real-world interactions. Dr. Padmakshi highlighted the role of empathy, communication, and emotional awareness in supporting individuals facing distress. The discussion also underscored the importance of recognizing warning signs and encouraging timely help-seeking behavior. Students were sensitized to the significance of mental health awareness and supportive peer interactions. The programme encouraged participants to reflect on their digital habits and prioritize personal well-being.
