Faculty Development Program (FDP)-Mathematical Foundations for AI-Driven Engineering Applications

The Departments of Applied Sciences and Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in association with the Skill Development Centre, New Horizon College of Engineering, organised a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Mathematical Foundations for AI-Driven Engineering Applications” from 29th June to 3rd July 2026. The programme was conducted in offline mode at the Falconry Seminar Hall and Library Video Conference Room.

The FDP aimed to strengthen faculty members’ understanding of the mathematical principles underlying Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Data Science. Eminent experts from reputed academic institutions and industry organisations, including IIM Bangalore, L&T Technology Services, CPRI, and various engineering colleges, delivered insightful technical sessions.

The programme covered essential mathematical concepts such as linear algebra, calculus, probability, statistics, optimisation, differential equations, and numerical methods. Participants explored the mathematical foundations of AI algorithms and computational techniques, with an emphasis on their practical applications in Engineering.

The sessions highlighted AI-driven solutions across diverse disciplines, including Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, and Computer Science Engineering. Emerging technologies such as Generative AI, Digital Twins, Explainable AI, Reinforcement Learning, and Intelligent Control Systems were also discussed.

The FDP provided opportunities for technical discussions, interdisciplinary learning, and exposure to contemporary research and industry practices. Participants gained valuable insights into applying advanced mathematical techniques to solve real-world Engineering challenges and improve research outcomes. The programme also encouraged the integration of AI tools and innovative teaching methodologies into Engineering education and curriculum development.

Overall, the FDP successfully strengthened mathematical competencies, promoted interdisciplinary collaboration, and encouraged innovative and sustainable approaches to AI-driven Engineering education and research.
