Guest Talk on Critical Thinking

On 9 September 2026, the Department of Applied Sciences, NHCE, organized an engaging guest talk on “Critical Thinking” for first-year engineering students. The session was delivered by Mr. Dhiraj A. Rao, Managing Director, AANS Technologies, Bengaluru, and focused on developing analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills. Through interactive discussions, thought-provoking questions, and real-life examples, students were encouraged to think beyond conventional approaches. The speaker used reels, movie clips, and advertisements to demonstrate how different perspectives can lead to unique interpretations and innovative solutions. Students learned that the first or most obvious answer is not always the best one and that questioning assumptions is an essential part of critical thinking. The session highlighted the importance of observation, analysis, and independent reasoning in everyday decision-making. Mr. Rao emphasized the need to complement academic knowledge with practical thinking and real-world application. Participants were encouraged to explore multiple viewpoints before arriving at conclusions and to approach challenges with curiosity and creativity. The interactive format kept students actively engaged throughout the session and stimulated intellectual exploration. The talk also demonstrated how critical thinking can improve efficiency, decision-making, and innovation in both academic and professional settings. Students gained valuable insights into developing smarter approaches to problem-solving and applying knowledge effectively. Overall, the session inspired students to cultivate a mindset of inquiry, creativity, and continuous learning, preparing them for future academic and career success.
