Seminar on IPR and Significance of Technology Transfer

The Department of Applied Sciences in association with NHCE and IIC organised a seminar on “IPR and Significance of Technology Transfer” from 26.11.25 to 27.11.25 with Dr. Agalya V, Associate Head, R&D and IPR Cell, New Horizon College of Engineering, as the resource person. The seminar aimed to create awareness among students and faculty about the importance of protecting creative and innovative work through Intellectual Property Rights and to highlight the role of technology transfer in moving research outcomes from academia to industry. Participants were introduced to patents, copyrights, trademarks, and industrial designs, gaining clarity on their significance in safeguarding innovations.

The session emphasised documentation requirements, legal and ethical aspects, and processes for identifying patentable work. It also explained technology transfer mechanisms such as licensing, collaboration, and commercialisation pathways. Students learned how these processes foster entrepreneurship and societal benefit while encouraging innovation and responsible research. The seminar strengthened skills in innovation management, research planning, and professional communication. Active engagement was observed through discussions and Q&A sessions, reflecting strong participation.

Feedback indicated improved understanding of IPR categories and technology transfer strategies. Faculty reported better readiness among students to document research for potential IPR applications. Overall, the seminar enriched academic growth, promoted entrepreneurial thinking, and equipped participants with practical insights for transforming research ideas into impactful technological solutions.
