The department of Basic Sciences and Humanities –Chemistry organized a webinar on 4 August 2020, (Tuesday) at 11 AM, the topic “Fuels from co-processing of waste plastics”. The speaker was Dr. Shelly Biswas, Assistant Professor, Department of Space Engineering and Rocketry, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. The webinar was conducted on gotomeeting platform.
Dr. Shelly spoke on the uncontrollable usage of non-biodegradable plastics, due to Industrialization and modernization, which leads to all kinds of pollution. She gave her inputs on the material composition of various plastics, utilization of waste plastics, co-processing of plastics with vacuum residue and plant oil, characterization of liquid products.
